OUR SELECTION OF OILS, OLIVES & OLIVE PASTES

Olive oil is extracted from the fruit of the olive tree, Olea europaea, a plant of the Oleaceae family cultivated in Crete since 3000 BC.
In ancient Greek culture, the olive tree was a sacred plant.
Thanks to the Greeks and Phoenicians, olive cultivation spread throughout the
Mediterranean basin, and thus for Greece, olive oil is an indispensable part of the national tradition.
When one thinks of Greek olives, the most famous black-purple Kalamata olives immediately come to mind, with their elongated shape and juicy flesh, characterised by a unique taste and unmistakable bitter flavour.
They are one of the oldest Greek varieties, undisputed queens of the table in Greece and a product of excellence for tables all over the world, a symbol of quality and good food.
But the green, fleshy soft and sweet-tasting
Greek olives are by no means to be underestimated.
From both these qualities of olives, excellent olive pastes are produced, delicious to accompany gastronomic dishes.

TREASURE OF ELAIS – EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
LIMITED EDITION

EXCELLENT GREEK OLIVE OIL

treasure of elais C

According to mythological tradition, Elais, daughter of Aniou and Dorippe, was the patroness of olive oil and transformed everything she touched into this precious product.
The fruit of the olive tree has been an essential element of Mediterranean culture since antiquity. Indeed, as far back as Minoan times, olive fruit was already being processed to produce olive oil, which was stored in clay ‘pithos’ and amphorae that were often transported to the Aegean islands and central Greece.
Building on this important heritage, TREASURE OF ELAIS is an extra virgin olive oil made from Manaki and Koroneiki variety olives, the two best qualities of olives, all handpicked and cold-pressed.
Manaki is an olive variety grown mainly in Lygourio or Ligourio, a small Greek town located in the centre of the prefecture of Argolis in the Peloponnese, built at the foot of Mount
Arachnaion at a height of 370 metres, near the ancient theatre of Epidaurus. The olive oil produced is sweeter than that of most other olive varieties and gives the dish a special colour.
The Koroneiki olive is instead described as the “Queen” of olives. The harvesting of these olives starts early, when they are still unripe, small and green. The unripe olives are the reason why the olive oil is of low acidity and at the same time rich in antioxidants and polyphenols. Olive oil produced from olives of the Koroneiki variety is rich and balanced, with a smooth texture and a slightly spicy and bitter flavour.
This guarantees a product of the highest quality. Two of the most valuable Greek olive varieties, with high nutritional value, a rich fruity flavour with hints of citrus, flowers, herbs and tomato leaves, combined with the purity and quality of the olives make TREASURE OF ELAIS an olive oil with a strong green colour with a golden accent and an exquisite taste that is worth trying and leaves a pleasant, velvety mouthfeel.

PREMIUM EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

EXCELLENT GREEK OLIVE OIL

premium virgin C

Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a natural source of vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that defends the body against the aging process by protecting against the formation of free radicals.
Because of this property, it is considered the “beauty vitamin”.
Extra virgin olive oil is defined as having an acidity level of less than 0.8% and is extracted using only “cold” techniques, i.e. at temperatures below 28 degrees, which is necessary to maintain its characteristics intact.
PREMIUM extra virgin olive oil is of a higher category, produced in Greece by the first cold extraction method at low temperatures and is controlled at all stages of the production process, from the field to the packaging.
The benefits of consuming high quality extra virgin olive oil are numerous.
Having stated that the quality of Greek oil is recognised worldwide, we now need to know which crop is the most popular.
The answer is simple: Koroneiki.
Koroneiki is the most popular native olive tree in the Peloponnese for the production of high quality olive oil. Its name comes from the nearby town of Koroni in Messinia.
The result is a world-renowned extra virgin olive oil with excellent properties, characterised by a green fruitiness of good complexity and medium intensity. The typical aromas of the Koroneiki variety predominate, namely artichoke, olive leaf and, in the background, tomato and its leaf and lemon. The bitterness and spiciness are medium to light in intensity and very well balanced. The finish is very clean, not greasy, as befits a high quality extra virgin olive oil.

The “Green” bottle contains an exclusive and precious extra virgin olive oil, obtained from the hand harvesting of Koroneiki olives at the beginning of the season, when they are still green, in order to produce the precious “early harvest” oil, known in Greece as “agoureleo” and from a milling carried out in a very short time, which is of great importance to obtain an extra virgin oil of excellent quality and to give it fragrance and structure.
This oil comes from the fertile regions of the Peloponnese, particularly Messinia, Kalamata and Olympus.
The excellent quality of this complex and refined oil, with its strong and enveloping flavour, low acidity and very high level of antioxidants is due not only to the ideal climatic conditionsbut also to the centuries-old experience of the growers, who in the Peloponnese have handed down techniques and knowledge from generation to generation.
